Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2019 Verified Purchase We all learn in different ways. I learn by reading. If I see it in print, I've got it! If I watch a video or just listen to someone telling me instructions, it just doesn't stick in my brain as well. When I read about this book, I was hopeful it was what I was looking for. I have done quick photo editing and fun digital art projects for years, but haven't taken the time to actually discipline myself to learning how to do all the fantastic things Photoshop could do. I knew it could do ALOT more than what I was doing with it. After my very first quick flip thru of this book, I found 20 helpful answers that made me go "A-ha!!" This book was the right choice for me. Looking forward to having even more fun now! 5.0 out of 5 stars Found 20 helpful things on initial flip-thru We all learn in different ways. I learn by reading. Images in this review Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2020 Verified Purchase I needed a book like this, because I learn better by reading and thinking than by internet-searching, video-watching, and then returning to the software. On the plus side-- the book is a well-organized and thorough resource. Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2016 Verified Purchase Finally, I have a simple and fast reference that allows me to use this great program. Even with other books including Kelby books, I always felt hesitant to use the program as it always seemed that something happened that I didn't understand or I was frustrated trying to do something and couldn't quickly and easily find the answer. Now I can. Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2018 Verified Purchase This book is as advertised. There are pages and pages of how-to and short cuts for PS users. it is NOT a sit-and-read book; rather, there are 150+ issues or problems with solutions. it is readable and useful. Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2016 Verified Purchase I have a lot of Scott Kelby's books. Really like his style. This book is very helpful. I keep a copy of it next to my computer at all times. Highly recommend anything written by this author. He really knows his stuff and is able to share that knowledge in a way that is easy for most people to understand. Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2020 Verified Purchase Looking at the description I thought this would be a pocket reference. Those can be hit and miss. So far this is more hit. I am also pleased share that it paid for itself in the first 10m of owning it. By helping me correct problems with a family photo that I thought would be a loss. I'd rank this as an essential reference book like my O'Reilly pocket guides for programming. Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2020 Verified Purchase I had hoped the book would be more helpful with nondestructive working practices; however this is for those that are just starting to learn about using Photoshop. It is good for that purpose because its easy to find what you need. Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2019 Verified Purchase The book is laid out well and easy to read however it claims to be useful to Photoshop users regardless of what version of the program you have. I find this book more useful for newer versions of Photoshop. Reviews with images

The thing is, I am a new user to Photoshop Elements 2020. The problem is-- as it so often is with new software-- that the features presented in the book's instructions do not match the software I am trying to work with. Sometimes I could uncover a similarity by testing all the choices; sometimes it appears that there was nothing like what the book describes.
At page 30, I'm frustrated because the book is raising as many questions for me as it has resolved. I intend to keep trying a while longer, but it isn't easy. Top reviews from other countries

This is a fantastic book for anyone who uses Adobe Photoshop. When you need advice, you can quickly look up your topic in one of the 13 Chapters, find the page number and quickly get the help you need. I have bought many books on both Photoshop and Lightroom, and I wish that Scott had made this book years earlier as I could have saved my self a lot of time and money. Buy a copy, you will be glad you did.

Scott Kelby does it again! I have already purchased his book on Lightroom and both are exactly what the doctor ordered!!
The books are very easy to follow and it is almost as if Scott Kelby is sitting next to you guiding you through. I cannot recommend highly enough for anyone wishing to get started with either Photoshop or Lightroom.

I rather like Scott's humour - in any case it does not detract from the "how to do" knowledge inside.
