I bought the S/M for my first international trip. I went to Spain for 2 weeks. I'm 5'4" and it was a comfortable fit. If you are planning to travel, this pack is amazing. If you are planning on any kind of hiking/trekking, this is not the pack for you. After a while of wearing it, your back will sweat profusely. The daypack is great so you can leave your main pack back in your room while you go out and explore a new city. The quality of materials is great and I love that Osprey guarantees their products.

I backpacked through Africa, Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, and Southeast Asia with this pack (all in one trip). The construction is great! It's been through A LOT and nothing has broken, not even the stitching! The color has faded obviously but that's expected. I use the day pack during my day trips and for shorter 2-3 day hikes. The big pack never went on a hike, it served more as a suitcase. I loved that it's not a top loading pack, it opens up more like a suitcase would.

Cons: I wish there is more zippered pockets for the day pack or make the existing pocket deeper.

Bought it along with the 55 a few weeks ago. If you are having trouble deciding between the two and can get this for about the same price as the 55, I'd suggest going with this, as it's slightly larger in capacity, but as some reviewers on Amazon and elsewhere have already pointed out, you really have to look for that extra 15 liters with this one.

Overall,, it's a great bag! It looks good, it's light weight enough. It has zippers you can run a TSA-approed or similar lock through it. The daypack is great and has a good laptop sleeve that comfortably holds my 15 (plus) inch laptop. The daypack is also textured inside and is a bright green color, as is the interior of of the main pack.

This type of combo bag is what I needed, for staying in hostels especially, so I can easily store my luggage in the main pack and lock it away or leave it on or under my bed, but can bring my pack with laptop (Macbook Air, lightweight for travel), camera, some food, etc., and not worry about leaving valuables behind. It's great to have just one bag to carry from planes, trains, and automobiles, yet containing the option of having two different function bags to use simultaneously once arrived at my destination(s).

The only reason I didn't end up keeping it is I still wanted something larger, not because I needed more space to get by for a 70 day European travel trip, but because I wanted more space to bring things back home as souvenirs or for memories, as this trip is my first time going. This could easily be overkill, too, as the 80 with a piggy bag is MUCH larger than this bag. But having more space to pack for travel doesn't mean (for me) that I'll pack more things, it just means I'll come back with more (lightweight keepsakes, which I'm very much OK with, and look forward to! For a more seasoned traveler or a dedicated minimalist, you can easily pack away in this for as long a journey as you need--just wash your clothes and consider some packing cubes or some method to organize and/or compress your items and clothing.

Ultimately I chose the 80, with a Quasar to piggyback as I really didn't like the Daylite Plus. But I think the 70 is great and Osprey quality speaks for itself, so I don't need to improve upon that, here.

Love this backpack! I use mine for traveling, instead of a suitcase. Flew it to Copenhagen, London, back to Copenhagen, and back to Dulles. Survived that trip with only black scuff marks. Since I use the day pack as my carryon, the straps on the main pack that secure the day pack to the main pack have a lot of slack in them, and I worry that those will get torn off one of these days. Otherwise the pack seems to streamline pretty well for baggage handling. I like how the day pack can attach in front for load balancing. The detachable pack is teardrop shape which helps it conform to the overall shape of the back pack. This makes it somewhat inefficient for carrying square and cube shaped items like books. I also wish it were a little larger (25%) so that it would hold more.

Just came back from a month traveling around the riviera/Adriatic/Spain. The bag worked out wonderfully. It was big enough but not over sized. I know the hard corps guys saying anything over 30 litres means you're over-packing. I have a feeling those were the backpackers we were smelling on the bus. I had a weeks worth of clothes, a jacket and some semi formal type things as well as some food and of course wine. Required proper packing but it all fit easy. Got a bit tight when I was hurried or lazy. I thought the little backpack MIGHT come in handy and might just be too much extra weight too far back. Turns out we used it every day. I rarely zipped it onto the main pack. That was our towel and wine pack. The straps were super comfortable for a small pack. This is very important. If you haven't worn a backpack all day before, you can't appreciate the importance of a nicely made suspension. The main pack's suspension system was excellent too. Hoisting it onto my iliac crest and tightening made the shoulder straps carry NO load. They just held it from leaning back. I walked all day with a an arthritic back carrying a 15 kilo pack and never had a problem. It just doesn't rest on your spine at all if you have it adjusted properly. Cut a small hole in the interior separator partition somehow. Probably my razor or something. Otherwise, the pack looks more or less new. Just some dirt from setting it on things.
sleeping bag straps and mini pack straps served many functions. mostly carrying my towel and poncho.
Comfortable, durable and the right size. I do kind of wish I got the larger one SANS mini pack and just used a separate pack for days. Zipping on the little pack makes it far too fat. I hung the little pack on my chest for best comfort. not quite worth rating it 4 stars

Bought this because my work assignments are invariably at clients' locations. Have had to buy a second piece of luggage (this) because the Sojourn only goes up to 80 litres and the Farpoint 65 Wheels only goes up to 65 litres. Neither Osprey or any other major manufacturer with a retail presence in UK currently have in the inventory a model of travel luggage with wheels as well as shoulder harness which is 100 or more litres. (So far have been travelling with a no-name / made in China 115 litre luggage, which after 8 years on the road should soon expire. At present there is no replacement available in the UK, only in US.)

Anyway, decided that a Sojourn with Daylite pigggy backed or a Farpoint 65 Wheels piggy backed with a Daylite series of pack is not good enough, mainly because the Darlite or Daylite Plus to not have padded section for a laptop. This zipped-off 13 litre pack has given the laptop section some padding. Secondly, zipping ion and off this pack off and on the main pack is faster than detach or attaching a Daylite only those mentioned wheeled luggage.

70 - 13 litres = 57. then add 65 litres of the Farpoint 65 Wheeled means I will get the volume needed for steel toe boots, inflatable life jacket, safety glasses, hard hat, coveralls, ear defenders, masks, gloves.... phew. One piece of luggage full already. Then I shall need noise meter, light meter, camera ...... for doing inspections. So I just wish some manufacturer will just make big piece of luggage with wheels and shoulder harness because Osprey, your Rolling Transpoerter 120 does not meet the spec.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for this solo female backpacker

I'm female, 5'8 and have been backpacking with this for 5-6 months and it's been great. Really comfortable, strong and the perfect size for everything I need (I'm in Central America so a mix of beach and mountain climates but nothing too cold). I love that it opens up fully. I use it with three large packing cubes for clothing, with extra room for my laptop, toiletries, and other junk. I wish it had more internal pockets though (it just has one large mesh pocket that I'm always fishing around in).

I don't find the daypack that useful as I carry a handbag day-to-day so only use it on long bus journeys, which it's just a little too small for. When I'm next in the UK I plan to switch it for a larger backpack that's a little more stylish. If it's possible to purchase without the daypack that would have probably been better for me.

Fantastic product, If you are lucky can squeeze into hand baggage but make sure to take out the small bag as it looks bulky for hand hold bag. I have carried around 15kgs for my months trip and quality is fab. Please note this amazon product is not the latest farpoint product as advertised in osprey website, I guess this model is 2018 but doesn't make any difference in build or compartment just the quality is much improved one in terms of material. I have done around 3 trips in this and twice I have put in checkin and no sign of any tear etc.

Excellent quality bag! Used on a trip to Australia. Managed to fit everything in easily and wasn't too heavy to carry around. Even with the bag filled up it was very comfortable and the mini backpack was brilliant for days out. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a travelling backpack!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good quality, but no rain cover

This is a very good quality Travel bag. The little attachable bag is particularly useful for day trips and has lots of handy little compartments. Only downside is that no rain cover is included, and for the cost I think this is a bit cheeky. The bag looks great though and it's surprisingly stylish.
